THE NEGRITUDE MOVEMENTS IN COLOMBIA
Black politics is a diverse range of social practices, actions, and thoughts through which subordinate groups, political figures, activists and artists negotiate power relations and propose alternatives to their forms of oppression. Negritude was the framework which facilitated the emergence of sites and forms of black politics in Colombia during the 70s. While the founders and leaders of the negritude movements -among them, Étiene Léro, Jules Monnerot, René Menil, Aimé Césaire, Léon Damas, Léonard Sainville, Aristide Maungée, the Achille brothers, Léopold Sedar Senghor, Osmane Sosé and Dirago Diop, from French colonies-, were thinking of “It is time for good Cuban Coffee and to say goodbye to negritude” and “to say hello to our Mother America and to the revolution that it has started here.” Afrocolombians were organizing, appropriating and re-articulating old and new sites and forms of black politics to mobilize, display and re-fashion negritude discourses, not limited to black literature. This dissertation examines how sites and forms of black politics, that emerged during the 70s, developed and proposed anti-racist agendas by using negritude discourses. I call them a. black in the left; b. the mestizo negritude; c, the liberal negritude; and d. de-subjugating black culture. Each of these sites and forms of black politics created and developed individual interpretative and explicative tools to reveal racial dominance and affirm blackness in Colombia. Each of these brought up conflicts and tensions by mobilizing agendas of the negritudes. From these dynamics of black politics, I conclude that although culture is a crucial tool for black liberation, culture by itself does not necessarily reconcile the tensions between class, political and gender differences. On the other hand, I conclude that politics should be understood as a contingent and relational ensemble of actions and discourses through which actors in difference positions negotiate power relations
Characterisation of the resistome and virulome of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from patients with ventilatorassociated pneumonia
ABSTRACT :
Introduction/objective: Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is the hospital-acquired infection with the greatest impact on patient outcomes and health care costs. Endogenous colonization by aerobic gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of VAP. The aim of this work was the characterisation of the resistome and virulome of a collection of P. aeruginosa isolates from patients with VAP collected during a multicentre study.
Material and methods: We analysed 38 isolates (1 per patient) of P. aeruginosa from patients with VAP. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of 16 different antibiotics were determined by broth microdilution according to the Clinical and Laboratory Standard Institute (CLSI) and the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) clinical breakpoints. The complete genomes of all the isolates were sequenced using the MiSeq platform (Illumina) to determine their clonal relationship, as well as the presence of antibiotic resistance and virulence related genes.
Results: According to antibiotic resistance, 10.5% (n=4) of the isolates were multi-susceptible and 23.7% (n=9) moderately resistant, while 21.1% (n=8) were multidrug-resistant and 44.7% (n=17) were extensively resistant. Forty-five genes related with antibiotic resistance were detected: blaGES-7 and blaVIM (1,2 and 20) were observed on extensively resistant isolates. According to the results obtained from the Virulence finder database (VFDB), the virulome of the whole population was made up of 294 genes, among which the most significant were the effectors (exo-) from the type III secretion system.Máster en Biología Molecular y Biomedicin

Black Politics of Folklore: Expanding the Sites and Forms of Politics in Colombia
This paper puts into question ideas of politics limited to the theories of social movements and contentious politics. In using the concept of black counterpublic, understood as a web of relations and spaces, I show how black politics of folklore expands the sites and forms of politics in Colombia of 1960. In doing so, I describe two aspects of the black counterpublic from the point of view of black political intellectuals into the racialized field of Colombian folklore: a. the way black political intellectuals understood race and racism in Colombia and, b. their forms of politics. That is, their form of organization and mobilization. For this, I propose a new understanding of folklore beyond ideas of entertainments, apolitical culturalism and essentialism which, in turn, make black politics look trivialized and less political under the integrationist racial project of the mestizo State. Also, I shed some light on the idea of race and racism from below, from the point of view of black political intellectuals; and I pluralize and decentralize black politics from social movement understanding of politics
Data mining for autonomous wearable sensors used for elderly healthcare monitoring.
Proceedings of the First PhD Symposium on Sustainable Ultrascale
Computing Systems (NESUS PhD 2016)
Timisoara, Romania. February 8-11, 2016.The paper presents some aspects regarding data mining used modeling and prediction of the patients’ health
state parameters.
The proposed wearable device integrated by using wireless personal networks (WPNs) can sense, process and
communicate vital signs through internet for healthcare monitoring. These WPNs are fitted for medical
applications and offer continuous ambulatory health monitoring by using non-invasive methods. Generally, the
body sensor network (BSN) for medical applications are based on big data fusion and cloud computing
technologies (PaaS, SaaS - for data storage and sharing solutions).
The big data fusion includes preprocessing (filter the noise), feature extraction (data abstraction), data fusion
computation (modeling different information type and fusion), and data compression (reducing the information
stored in memory and transmitted by the transceiver).
The fusion between wearable wireless body sensor network (WWBSN), IoT and Cloud Computing will allow
doctors, emergency stations or caregivers to track and receive data from BSNs about patients in different places.
By using biomedical sensors can be studied the human behavior and physiology, the body's response
physiologically and emotionally to various physical and mental diseases. The WWBSN can cover monitoring for
cardiovascular, diabetic problems or mental disorders (Alzheimer).European Cooperation in Science and Technology. COS
